Overview:
By Light is seeking a Network System Engineering Intermediate candidate to provide transport engineering support for all DOD and non-DOD interconnected communication infrastructures located world-wide.
The candidate is expected to participate in regular meetings with internal program staff, teammates, and the government client on a frequent basis is expected to deliver client value for the Infrastructure Engineering Division, Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), which is responsible for maintaining and posturing the DOD Information Network (DODIN) transport infrastructure and capabilities.
Effective leadership and communication skills are essential for working among a blended prime/subcontractor program team and developing and maintaining strong client relationships.
Responsibilities:
The network systems engineering intermediate candidate shall provide engineering support to develop and/or update Systems Planning & Design (SP) documentation of global and regional portions of the DoDIN.
SP documentation is site-based and includes technical details necessary to implement a design solution at a given site.
The candidate shall analyze existing and planned DoDIN Optial Transport, IP, Legacy TDM (SONET/SDH) Transport, Timing & Synchronization, and recommend appropriate actions or changes for the best alternatives to engineering support.
The candidate shall have experience with authoring and updating the sampling of government requested deliverables associated with this tasking by providing:
Elements of network and site-specific designs, including port assignments Technical solutions to resolve network transition issues to include all requirements from, but not limited to, technology refresh, sustainment, site/building relocation, and etc.
Initial Major Bill of Materials (MBOM) based on networkThe candidate shall have knowledge and understanding of utilizing Change and Configuration Management tools, Network design tools, and other available means to update current and future architectures.
The candidate shall:
Verify the site locations and equipment and determine the current and future needs in support of an early circuit provisioning solution.
Provide all elements of end-to-end early circuit design support to satisfy DISN stakeholder requirementsVerify early circuit engineering solutions against existing DISN/network architecture and provide technical recommendationProvide and update existing documentation of transport network architectures captured in SystemsPlanning and Design (SP) documents.
Provide Circuit Provisioning and Design (CP) documentation to catalog circuit provisioning needs for Government review.
Input hardware designs via Engineering Work Orders (EWOs) in DISA's CMDB, MetaSolv System (MSS).
Utilize DISA Confirmtation management database, MetaSolv Solution (MSS) to develop Engineering Work Orders (EWO) to update hardware configurations.
Required Experience/
Qualifications:

years of network systems engineering experienceExperience analyzing local and wide area network systems Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related fieldWorking knowledge Microsoft Office Tools; specifically, PowerPoint, Visio, Word & Excel.
Excellent communication, effective leadership, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Experience/
Qualifications:
Working knowledge of IP Transport and Optical Transport network architectures, to include Cisco/Juniper/Ciena environments.
Knowledge of carrier-grade hardware and their use from various OEMs to include Cisco/Juniper/Ciena/Infinera(Sycamore/Coriant) Special Requirements/Security Clearance:

Physical Demands:
